for or against abortion?

March 22, 2010

A health care bill has been created by president obama and it has caused a lot of drama in the senate. One issue that has kind of  brought both sides together, whether for or against is the abortion plan. Many that is against abortion do not agree with the plan because they feel that tax dollars should not go towards these things they feel can be avoided. The people who were at one time for abortion doesn’t agree with obamas plans in his health care bill. He has left a bitter taste in the mouths of republicans and demacrats alike. I personally am not against abortion but i also do not just full blown like it. I feel like accidents do happen, which do not have to have anything to do with not proptecting yourself or anything else careless.  Which side do you agree with? or are you just neutral? i feel abortion should be in place but at the persons own money and leisure. To take away the right to your own body is like taking away someones freedom to choose. I do agree that abortions should be out of the persons pocket because people do pay taxes and their money should be going to things of more  importance like cancer and physical and mental dissabilities. This bill if aproved will help many people and it will change how america take care of their people. When it all boils down to it everyone will not agree with anything that happens so whatever happens just have to happen for the good of the american people. I hope they choose wisely in what can change lives of billions

Allen (great dad) Iverson

March 1, 2010

Allen Iverson has made me look at him in a different light now because he has broke the steriotype of bad basketball players. Allen has put his carrer on hold because he knows what is more important in his life. He has his priorities straight. His daughter has been sick for some time now and now he realizes that he has to just give up his carrer for a little while because his daughter needs are far more important. Yes that is what may keep food on the table and keep her well but his suppoort as far as being there is just as important as the money. If i was Allen i would have did the same thing for my children. I am glad that the NBA recognizes this and has made it so it is just a break versus him being done altogether. If you was Allen would you have given up not only your carrer but something that you love to do? When i read the article about what he did it made me feel that there were still actually some good fathers out there taking care of their responsibilities. When a man in his position (basketball all star) does things like that it sometimes make other men who may not have been the greatest fathers stand up and do what is right for the good of their children. I am really hoping that all goes well with Allens daughter and now that should be a message to all African American men to know that even the “big dogs” have to make sacrafices to take care of business.

tweet?

February 25, 2010

After doing my tweets on an historical event in my computer class i have a new found respect for tweeting. Its a common everyday activities post versus trying to post important things that you are trying to convey to people within 140 words. I know i have a little problem with texting a conversation without going over my limit of 160 words, so i really was struggling. I enjoyed tweeting on Martin Luther King Jr. and the riots that broke out on U Street in Northwest. I knew about the situations but i did endeed learn more that i didnt know about at first. I think if these people had known that it would have taken so long to rebuild things up maybe they would have just destroyed the “white peoples” shops and stores instead of many other places that they just did out of anger. If you lived back then do you think you would have been apart of those riots? why do you think you would or would have? Yes Dr. Martin was a great man, but history in general is such a powerful thing to know for those who may not know their or any history in general. When you know where you come from, you know where you are going. Every race or culture has been through something whether they brung it upon themselves or if it was forced upon them. Every person should know that where we stand today didnt just come easily, but someone had to fight for us to be where we are today.

The determination through weather set backs

February 17, 2010

The cureent 2010 olympics has been going some what good. Vancouver(known for its clod weather) has unfortanately not lived up to its cold and snowy weather. Just like DC they are experiencing a weather at this time that is unusual to them. Some people are worried about what is going to happen as far as the olympics goes,  because so many delays due to warm weather has occured. Some events have taken place and just like olympic officials are determined to be done by february 28 so is one olympic runner by the name of Lindsey vonn. Lindsey is one of the olympians who is expected to do real good things in the 2010 olympics. Eventhough she injured her shin she is determined to continue on until the end. Would you continue on if you was her? while we are wishing we had their weather, they’re wishing they had ours. Everything is going to work out just fine for Vancouver to continue hosting the 2010 olympics. IM ROOTING FOR VANCOUVER!!!!

snow

February 17, 2010

This snow was just beautiful to me but it sure caused DC to come to a complete hault. I enjoyed playing in it but i bust my butt twice in it and that wasnt cool. Obama laughed at DC because he is from chicago and there its just another day to them. The snow sure was my first big blizzard of my life. When i went to the grocery store the shelves were scarce and people was so desperate to get food they began to steal meat out of eachothers carts. The snow did not slow me down one bit. I made sure i was not in the house because while people were acting afraid me and my friends went out and enjoyed it. My church was closed the entire time and my church is my life so that was a difference, but i enjoyed the fact that i got to get much needed sleep. I guess the biggest snow storm in DC was my very first one. BOY AM I LUCKY!!LOL

Fenty!

February 12, 2010

I think that Fenty is really doing a bad job of  taking care of the people of the district of columbia. He has failed to carry out the job he promised to do when he was sworn in. Besides the fact that his percentage from the residence of DC has declined from what it was in the beginning of his term, he  have really did it now with his lack of  priority for the people. I feel he should have just cancelled work for DC government employees instead of making people sit and wait on whether they were going to work or not. He is more concern with making money than the safety of the people. Alot of  the “wealthier” wards had a snow truck come through and plow their area multiple times a day but yet the “poorer” wards never even saw a truck. Now is that fair to call people into work when you have an area in which the people cant get out and if they do try there are great possibilities that they can hurt themselves? what will he say then?  I feel when any person takes on the job or duty to work for the people thats exactly what they should be doing. Fenty has failed as a good mayor and as the kind of mayor he promised us he would be. Marion Barry may have did things that wasn’t so good, but he cared about those less fortunate than others while still taking care of those who were the more fortunate. Our next mayor should have those same characteristics.
